Sandy is the proud owner of the Danus Design Studio & Cheerful Hearts portable paint Studio.

Her passion for art was evident as a young child and has been a life long journey.  With a degree in Fine Arts and studies in Graphic Design, 

Sandy has pursued her passion as a  professional 

muralist and art instructor for over 25 years.

 

With her entrepreneur spirit and 

creation of Cheerful Hearts Portable Paint Studio, she continues to follow her passion, 

She is a lover of all things vintage, furry friends, won't turn down a good pizza and her favorite pass time is spending time with her family!

​With her never ending smile and good heart,  Jo is a price-less support for the success of our classrooms and business.

Her passion for people, combined with her hard work and fun nature,  keeps our events a positive place to learn and have fun!

Jo's passions are many, from teaching water aerobics, to attending performances on her bagpipes, as well as hosting English Tea parties to special groups.

Jo is an amazing artist, a good friend and the best Mary Kay consultant you will ever know!

GROUP EVENTS

WHAT IS A GROUP PAINT EVENT?

A group painting event is a gathering of people who come together and learn how to paint, in a fun, friendly atmosphere , with guided instruction.  Classes are in our location. Sign up alone and come meet new people, or come with friend and share the fun!  All locations have a separate sign up list that they manage.  View our calendar with available events and information.

WHERE DO THE EVENTS TAKE PLACE? 

We offer classes at several public locations. Currently at 5 local YMCA's (White Bear, Lino Lakes, Forest Lake, Maplewood Commuity and Shoreview ) St. Andrew's Churches in Mahtomedi and even Keys Cafe in White Bear Lake.  We can also come to your home or work place.  (Please see private events).

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Pricing is determined per canvas design. Most designs range from $25-$30 per painting. which includes all supplies, cheerful instruction for the event and are payable in class.  

 

WHO IS TEACHING THE CLASS?

Local artist Sandy Danus will provide hands-on instruction throughout the event. For larger class sizes, additional assistants will circulate to provide guidance.

 

ARE FOOD OR ALCOHOL INCLUDED IN THE COST? 

No not included in the cost, however, some public & private events offer food and drinks to their groups.  These will be available to painters if they wish to purchase them.

 

WHAT DOES A PAINT EVENT INCLUDE?

Each event includes setup and cleanup, all art supplies, 12X12  or other size, ready to hang wrapped canvas, aprons, hands-on art instruction and a take-home masterpiece for each guest. We do the messy part, you just have fun!  Host paints free! (*one host per event)

 

WHAT KIND OF PAINT DO YOU USE?

We use non-toxic, water-soluble acrylic paint which washes easily from hands and hard surfaces.

 

WHAT DO I WEAR?

We do have aprons, but if you are worried, do not wear your finest. Acrylics can be washed out if done quickly before they dry. 

 

WILL MY PAINTING DRY BEFORE I LEAVE?

Acrylic paints dry very quickly, which makes your paintings ready to transport immediately following the event!

PRIVATE EVENTS

WHAT ARE PRIVATE EVENTS? 

These are gatherings perfect for friends and girls night out, etc. You host the event in the privacy of your home, or location. We set up everything for you & your guests to create a unique masterpiece! Best part.....Host paints FREE!(*one host per event). 

*Ages 15 or older please and accompanied by an adult only. No children's event offered at this time.

 

HOW DO I RESERVE AN EVENT?

We are waiting to hear from you! Please contact us through email and we will get back to you within 24–48 hours to talk about a plan for you.

 

HOW MANY GUEST DO I NEED TO BOOK A PRIVATE PARTY?

We ask that the minimum is 12, maximum 25. We keep it small you each person gets the attention they may need to create a painting they can be proud of. 

 

HOW LONG ARE PRIVATE EVENTS?

Event times vary depending on your needs but range from 2 to 3+ hours depending on the design and number of painters. 
Allowing time for setup and clean up. (about a half hour for each)  Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early for your best seat, as the instruction starts at the listed time.

 

CAN I CHOOSE MY OWN ARTWORK?

Yes, when booking a Private Event, you can choose your favorite artwork from our gallery canvases, keeping in mind that some of our designs are for more advanced painters. We can help you choose a design perfect for your group.  If you have something else in mind, email with your ideas.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Pricing is determined by a few factors including canvas design, distance we need to travel, how many painters in your group, etc. Typically it will range between $30-$40 per painter, depending on the situation. Price includes all supplies and instruction for the event.

DO I NEED TO MAKE A DEPOSIT FOR A PRIVATE EVENT?

A deposit is required for all private events. The deposit goes toward your final balance, which is due upon completion of the event, contact us for details.
